BMW CCA CLUB RACE

Friday Sep 26 - Sunday Sep 28

Watkins Glen Int'l , Watkins Glen, NY

Last day to register for Club Race: Sat Sep 20, 2008

Oktoberfest at the Glen!  We are expecting a large turnout and accordingly are planning on having two run groups.  The event will include a 60 minute enduro for each group and well as two sprint races for each run group.  The race weekend is expected to begin on Friday with practice and qualifying session and will continue with a full schedule on Saturday and Sunday.  Please note, as we are running race sessions on Friday we will not have the benefit of an optional practice day on Friday as we have had in previous years.

Please note: we have reserved two separate run slots for racers on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to allow for two complete run groups.  However if we only register 75 cars or less we will only have one race group and the second group will be filled with DE students.

Accordingly, you can reserve a spot on the grid with a paid registration only.  We need 90-100 cars for two race run groups, so we will accept the first 75 paid registrations and will start a wait list until we hit 90 cars.  Please don’t wait until the last minute as the decision to revert to one race run group will be made by July 31, 2008. IN OTHER WORDS, IF YOU WAIT TO REGISTER AND/OR WAIT TO PAY, YOU MAY BE LEFT OUT.

Cost for the weekend will be $635 which includes your entry fee and a ticket for the Saturday awards dinner. If you do not turn a wheel, you will get a refund of your race entry fee.

BMW CCA RETURNS TO WATKINS GLEN

The BMW Car Club of America will present its 39th Annual Oktoberfest in historic Watkins Glen, New York, from September 23-27, 2008. It’s the Club’s first O’fest in the state of New York since 1988, when Rochester was the host city, and the driving events took place at Watkins Glen International Raceway.

The Glen, one of the best-known Tier One tracks in the country, will again be the featured facility—and the Genesee Valley, Boston, White Mountain, Patroon, and Connecticut Valley Chapters will provide support. The brand-new Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel will be the co-host hotel.

The town of Watkins Glen, with its population of 2,150, is located at the southern tip of Seneca Lake and comprises 2.2 square miles of prime New York real estate. Drive time and distances from some of our major cities to Watkins Glen is a huge selling point; for example: Albany, NY, 165 miles, 3.5 hours; Boston, MA, 350 miles, 6.5 hours; Buffalo, NY, 120 miles, three hours; Cleveland, OH, 280 miles, five hours; Harrisburg, PA, 185 miles, three hours; New York City, 280 miles, five hours; Philadelphia, PA, 250 miles, 5.5 hours; Pittsburgh, PA, 268 miles, 5.5 hours; Syracuse, NY, 100 miles, 1.5 hours; and Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 200 miles, 3.5 hours.
